Positive Behavior Support Plans: Build Lasting Change (PBS Plans)

Lizard Centre is a leading provider of positive behaviour support in Sydney. For each of our clients we create a positive behaviour support plan and then help them to implement it for their child to drive positive change.

Finding the right positive behaviour support plan can be crucial to fostering a more joyful and autonomous lifestyle and facilitating societal engagement and inclusion. With our assistance, you can achieve that for your child. Please note, there is not a minimum age requirement for participation in our program. Our services can be relevant to your child as soon as it is identified that a positive behaviour support program may be right for you.

Positive Behaviour Support in Sydney: Transforming Lives

At Lizard Centre, we understand the difficulties associated with handling challenging behaviours. With us, each person’s positive behaviour support plan is tailored to meet their unique needs, reducing the stress and emotional turmoil associated with such behaviours. We concentrate on:

  • Supporting positive behaviour to reduce aggressive behaviors, such as hitting and biting.
  • Empathetic, proactive approaches to self-injurious behaviour.
  • Building positive communication strategies to reduce property damage.
  • Boosting social interaction and addressing social withdrawal.

Your Journey with Positive Behaviour Support in Sydney

Initially, families that join our services should plan on attending a series of startup sessions that will be described to you prior to joining. These sessions are consistent with NDIS benchmarks, for our positive behaviour support program. In order to ensure the support of the program, your NDIS plan must provide funding for Improved Relationships (IR). If you do not have IR funding but you believe positive behaviour support may be right for your child, Lizard may be able to support in the initial assessment and reports that you would provide to the NDIS.

Our Approach to Positive Behaviour Support in Sydney

Developing fundamental skills is the first step in our behaviour support initiatives. We begin by identifying the problem and developing a plan to address it based on these three assumptions:

  • A successful behaviour support program relies heavily on communication.
  • A positive behaviour support plan cannot be effective without resilience.
  • A key component of our behaviour support approach is collaboration.
In order to ensure a holistic positive behaviour support plan, we incorporate life skills like communication, self-care, and social interaction into our program.

Developing Positive Behaviour Support Therapy Success

Our behaviour support practitioners in Sydney are dedicated to more than simply managing behavior; they aim to improve life quality and ensure that each individual receives the support they need.

  • Maintaining rights and dignity.
  • Keeping a person-centred approach to supports.
  • Applying strategies that are both impactful and considerate.
  • Modifying environments to better accommodate individual preferences.
  • Offering timely and suitable interventions that are collaboratively designed and endorsed by the support recipients

Sydney Behaviour Support Plans

Our positive behaviour support plans follow a two-step process:

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQS)

As a behaviour management method, PBS employs scientifically-backed methods that enhance social, communicative, and practical life skills within individuals.
The PBS program can benefit people with behavioural difficulties, including those with developmental disorders, autism spectrum conditions, or emotional challenges.
To cater to the individual’s needs and objectives, PBS emphasises positive reinforcement, skill development, and environmental modifications rather than traditional methods that some organizations may have relied on in the past.
PBS plans are customised and might include strategies for promoting positive behaviours, imparting new skills, adjusting the environment to minimise triggering events, and confirming their effectiveness through regular evaluations.
As noted, PBS methods may be applied to a variety of environments, including the home, classroom, and community, so that an individual’s environment is consistent and nurturing.
Families play a crucial role in PBS by setting objectives, engaging in training, and applying strategies at home to ensure consistency and success.
In order to offer the most beneficial support while upholding the rights and respect of the individual, PBS practitioners are trained in behavioural analysis, strategies for skills development, and ethical practices.
As part of the assessment process, ongoing monitoring is conducted, data is gathered, key stakeholders are consulted, and behavioural and skill progress is periodically reassessed to fine-tune the plan.
By focusing on skills acquisition and proactive measures, PBS empowers individuals to manage their behaviours, make decisions, and participate more actively in their communities.
