My child’s school is asking for behaviour support action – What can I do?
When a school raises concerns about behaviour or learning readiness, it can feel urgent and overwhelming. Lizard’s School Aged Program helps build social, learning, and self-regulation skills, with therapy that can take place at school or at home.
Is your school requesting behaviour support or an updated plan?
Schools often ask families to organise behaviour support when learning, routines, or peer interactions are being disrupted, or when they need clearer strategies to support a child consistently.
You might be here because you need help with:
- Behaviour concerns affecting classroom participation and learning
- Support to strengthen social skills and relationships with peers and teachers
- Strategies that match the school routine, transitions, and classroom expectations
What support does the School Aged Program provide?
Lizard’s School Aged Program is designed to build social and academic skills for children and adolescents aged 7 years and older with developmental delays or skills deficits.
While each program is tailored to the unique needs of the child and family, the Lizard School Aged program can help children:
- Improve language and communication skills in a school environment
- Develop social skills that build positive relationships with other children and teachers
- Teach daily skills like following routines, time management, and organisation
- Strengthen academic learning skills such as reading, writing, maths, and organisation
- Improve emotional self-regulation, impulsivity, and coping with transitions
How our program works
The School Aged Program provides intensive intervention supports. Programs are designed and directed by an experienced Therapy Supervisor, with Therapy Assistants delivering 1-on-1 sessions to teach new skills.
Behaviour therapy sessions can be provided in your home or in school.
How we will work with your child’s school and support team
Capacity building for the key people in your child’s life is part of the approach. Lizard can work with you and collaborate with your child’s educators and other key people so they can better support your child as they grow.
What will you need?
Our School Aged Program lasts for 10 months, and is suited to families who have the availability for at least 2 weekly sessions, as well as the funding to support a more intensive program.
